What's included, what isn't, and what it costs.
A managed website
£900 to build, then £45 a month, plus VAT (£1,080 and £54 including VAT).
The build covers up to six pages, your own branding and colours, a contact page, and moving across your existing content and web addresses so that nothing you've already built up in search results is lost along the way.
Every site is tested for accessibility, so customers using a screen reader or a keyboard can still get what they came for. It also helps you meet your duties under the Equality Act.
The monthly fee covers:
- Hosting in a UK data centre
- Your web address's settings and security certificate looked after, with automatic renewal of the address itself switched on. If you haven't got one yet, if you want, I'll find a suitable one, register it in your name and renew it for you at the price I pay
- Nightly backups of everything (pages, settings and images), copied to a second provider’s UK data centre, checked, and kept for 30 days
- Security and software updates, applied across every site, most of them automatically once they’ve passed the platform’s tests
- Uptime monitoring every five minutes, so I usually know about a problem before you do, with the results visible in your dashboard
- A private preview of your new site, behind your own password, before it goes live
- Changes to your text and pictures (like new prices, opening hours or an extra page): send me one set of changes a week and I'll put them live within two working days. You can also make changes yourself, as often as you like.
- No third-party trackers or advertising scripts on your site, which keeps your visitors' data where it belongs
- Your own private dashboard, showing your contact form’s messages, how many times your pages are viewed by real visitors (robots left out, no cookies), your site’s uptime and nightly backups, every sign-in by your team, and who’s signed in right now, with the option to sign them out
- A contact form, if you’d like one, that stops junk without asking your visitors to solve a puzzle or loading anyone else’s tracking scripts. Messages wait in your own private inbox for 60 days, only your site’s admins can open them, and you reply by email in one click
- Two-step sign-in for everyone who can edit your site (a password and a code from an app on their phone), with automatic sign-out after an hour without activity
- A privacy policy to start from, describing exactly what your website does with visitors’ information, ready for you to check and make your own. Once it’s published, it’s linked from every page and from the sign-in page
- Pages built to load quickly and read well on phones, with images automatically resized and compressed
- Built so search engines can find and read every page: a sitemap, clean page addresses, fast loading and a description for each page in search results
Local charities and community groups
From £25 a month plus VAT (£30 including VAT), with the build fee reduced or waived completely depending on what you need. This is for small local charities, community groups and volunteer-run organisations in Merseyside running on donations and goodwill. But just ask, and I'll try to work out something that fits your budget.
Where it goes further
Online ordering, collection or appointment slots, a shop, ticketing and members' areas are quoted separately, because what they involve varies from one business to another.
The best place to start isn't with a feature list. Tell me how the work actually happens now in your business: who rings who, what gets written on a pad behind the counter, where the Saturday morning bottleneck is. Then I'll tell you honestly what could be built to fit it, what it would cost, and whether it's worth adding to your website at all. You'll have the full cost in writing before any work starts, so there are no surprises.
What I don't do
Logo design and branding, photography, social media management, paid advertising, and ongoing campaigns to push you up Google’s rankings. Your site is built so search engines can find and read it properly; climbing the rankings after that is a marketing job, and you’ll be better served by someone who does it all day.
If you ever want to leave
Your web address is registered in your name, so it's yours to take (if I registered it for you, I'll move it to your own account at no charge). I'll re-point it wherever you tell me and hand over everything you've put in:
- All your page text
- Your images at full resolution
- An export of your data (customers, orders and enquiries) in a standard format another developer can pick up
There's no exit fee and no notice period beyond the month you're in. I'd rather you stayed because it's working than because leaving is difficult.
